Sam is a very lucky individual...and he also has an excellent nurse.  Sam's PICC line (permanent port--kind of like a long-term IV) has been not working very well for the past few days.  So this morning my mom took some blood out of it and noticed something that looked like white lumps (platelets) and she quickly took the PICC line out.  Seems that Sam was developing some pretty significant clots at that sight--the danger with this is the clot can travel to his lungs and very easliy become deadly.  So he had an emergency ultrasound on his arm to check for clots--he does have one small one, but it is in a superficial vein and so will most likely resolve on its own.  Whew!  He also had another round of xrays on his lungs and...yea!...they are clearing!

He hasn't had any therapy today because of the pneumonia, blood clots and just sheer exhaustion (he was up at 6 this morning).  Hmmm...he is too tired for therapy, yet I can see him right now sitting at the other computer playing Diablo II, again.  He is just lucky my mom fell asleep, otherwise she would definately make him go to bed.
