Tears of joy dampen these lines.
I see this valiant woman in scrubs.
Vigilant as an eagle
Restless as a prowling lioness
Moving this way and that...
I see this valiant woman in scrubs
Protecting her Sam
Challenging Death to come near,
Daring Death to snatch her son from her.
She will have none of that.
Long and agonizing have been the days.
Long have been the nights
That have lain so heavily upon her heart
Since she first saw the crumpled body of her precious son
Lying wounded on a bed.
Yet while others may have been willing to submit,
To give up in resignation;
While others were inclined to see darkness
She was determined to see light on a far off mountain.
With spine of steel she has braced herself,
Waiting anxiously for each report
And believing, believing, believing cried:
My Sam is coming back,
My Sam is coming back!
And while Sam's battered heart
Could but feebly beat for itself
Her mother's heart beat for him
And willed him miraculously back to life.
Now the sun is breaking through the clouds
And her joyful cry like a thunderclap echoing
Down the mountainside proclaims:
My son shall live, my son shall live!
