Today is a day that we all should sit back and say a prayer for all of the families whose hearts break all over again every day for missing those they lost. For never knowing the story of how their loved ones handled that day.
It is also a time for me to thank God that we don't have to wonder. That we have Sam here with us. Although it feels as though are lives are difficult and the pain too much to bear. It truly could have been so much worse.
The man that lays in that rehab bed. My Sam, who would do anything for someone who needed it. Who has always treated me perfectly. Who has loved all those in his life perfectly. It must be some greater plan that he touches all those in his life on his way home. He always has.
I went to see Sam yesterday (without the crew, just me). We played Skip-Bo and Uno. Bec came and joined in. We sat around and talked and laughed so hard my stomach hurt. I love Sam's sense of humor. I love that the three of us together still laugh until we ache. What did we laugh about? Well for one thing, Sam makes a noise when he clears his throat, it almost sounds like raaar! It isn't as much the noise but the lack of warning that he is about to attack that is so surprising. Bec was retelling the story about the other day when another patient's family member was leaning in and saying, "Sam, you're doing so well!" Sam's response, "AAARGH!" After making that lovely sound he makes a sour lemon face. Bec got in a fender bender yesterday (she is okay, although thoroughly frustrated with the unfairness of the ticket). We decided next time we get pulled over and the officer asks, "Do you know why I pulled you over?" We are going to reply, "AAARGH!" This conversation continued with all of us putting our two cents in and laughing SO hard!
I love my siblings. They do my heart good.
Mom and Dad are doing well. Mom was at home doing med research online until around 6:30pm and Dad was hanging around the hospital with us.
Sam's former teacher Mrs. Cook from Handley sent some blessed oil and a card for Sam. It really touched us all that she reached out to us because Bec, Sam and I all had her as a teacher. We prayed over him and did the sign of the cross on all trouble areas. Healing to the heart, body and soul.
Take care and love each other perfectly,
Heather
