Medical Updates/Improvements:

Sam finally got his trach out yesterday.  He said (spelled) that it didn't hurt when they removed it and that it is now easier to swallow.  In a few weeks they will do a swallow test on him and (cross your fingers) soon he will be eating JELLO!  (Sam did a thumbs down for that dinner choice--the first thing he wants to eat are Taco Bell bean burritos, light on the red sauce).  And next week during PT he will begin standing and relearning how to walk!  (He did a big thumbs up for that idea).  And his language is getting much clearer.  He is spontaneously remembering how to say many different sounds in a way that almost anyone could understand.  But he still uses the word board for most of his communication.

Funny Sam Moments:

A few nights ago Sam was asleep when the night nurse came in to check on him.  She leaned very close to his face and was preparing to put eye drops in his eyes when he suddenly coughed in a very "creaturemonsterscary" way.  She leaped away from him, flicked on the light and was generally very frightened.  Heather, Sam and Mom decided that they should call this WHEN PATIENTS ATTACK!
