Earlier tonight Sam was removed from the pressurized part of the vent. and so he is breathing completely on his own, but still receiving oxygen.  But that isn't the most wonderful news...SAM IS MOVING TO COMMAND!  Heath and I (Bec) were in Sam's room for two hours tonight (until almost midnight) just singing really bad and annoying songs.  We first noticed that his blood pressure went up and his pulse went up, but we kept going.  We sang every song we could think of that might annoy Sam.  The final straw was "I Like Big Butts" (ugh!).  We started to sing that one while I shook my bottom in his face.  When we stopped I bent over him (very close) and said, "Sam, if you want us to stop singing, them move something."  Heather was standing down by his feet and noticed that his foot moved in the littlest way.  "Tell him to move his foot again!"  Heath said.  I said, "Sam, move your foot now."  After about the count of ten he moved his foot.  So I ran downstairs to get my mom and dad.  He moved a total of nine times to command, and the final one was a giant flex where his foot left the pillow!  It was the most amazing thing I've ever seen in my life!  His nurse Jennifer was in there and witnessed it!  (She put her hands over her face and started to cry).  We are truly witnessing a miracle.
