The countdown has begun (duh, duh, DUM!).  Sam will be back in the bosom of his beloved family (or just home) in only five days.  He is just itching to be there NOW!  He is playing Uno with my mom tonight and just killing her over and over again.

His progress continues to be good:

He went to the eye specialist who said his field of vision is excellent and should not stop him from doing any physical activity that he wants to do.  While he is still blind in his right eye, his left eye is 20/30--which means he just needs to wear low strength glasses (but no coke bottle variety).

He goes to a speech and swallow specialist on Monday to evaluate and refer him to someone to help him in these areas.

His spacial orientation (his ability to tell where his body is in space) is much better.  He is not as "head tilty" as he was before (as my mom said this to me on the phone he realized he was tilting his head and quickly straightened up).

And he continues to improve with his walking practice.  They had him practicing standing up with balance and walking up steps.  I guess they have to follow a certain progression of activities (like when a baby first creeps, crawls then walks) in order for Sam to truly relearn balance enough to walk.

So keep saying prayers for my Uno champ brother--especially for his pituatary, speech and swallow.  And remember to mark the date for the Welcome Home Sam party on your calendar.  It would be wonderful to see the hall packed for Sam (he would love that!).

Love,

Bec (who now can help poor pregnant overburdened Heather now that Bec has internet access at her house and share the blog responsibilities a little better) Wolf
