Before the accident, Sam was doing research on LyP, the disease that my sister Heather (and many others) suffer from.  His research started with a desire to save Heather's life and was put on hold by the car accident that almost claimed his life.  (To learn more about this, read the article under "Sam's Research").  Here is one of many people who appriciated Sam's efforts to find a cause and, therefore, a cure for LyP.
