"Singing Daisy" McQuiston was frequently one of Sam's amazing nurses during his months in ICU--(along with "nighttime Cindy", "nighttime Kathy" and "English Joy") she saved his life many times. And we could always tell how Sam was doing by the look on Daisy's face. We called her "singing Daisy" because she would sing or talk to Sam almost nonstop while he was in his coma.
Sam "met" Daisy at his coming home party last October, and, after hearing her speak, he started to cry. He then pointed at her and said, "I know your voice, I remember you." (Sam was still in a coma when he was transferred out of ICU--but has real memories of parts of his ICU stay). Thank you, Daisy--you were one of the people that, with God's help, helped make Sam's miracle possible.

One year ago, February 15th at 7 a.m. I met you, a young man lying in a hospital bed with your life in God's hands, and now I will never forget you. We were destined to meet one another but unfortunately not the way we both would have preferred.
For the next six weeks you fought hard, defied all odds, and God gave you back to those who love you. I cried the day you left the hospital. But I knew that it was time to share you with the others who were part of your destiny. From Room 709, there are echoes of your presence. The tears we cry now are tears of joy. You truly are a miracle boy!
I am so proud of you and the progress that you have made. Keep up the exceptional work.
Love always,
Daisy McQuiston, RN
P.S. I'm still singing to you in your dreams.
(Sam and I read this card together...and we both started to cry after reading Daisy's P.S.)
